The Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals [CILIP], is a professional body formed following the unification of the Institute of Information Scientists (IIS) and The Library Association (LA).

CILIP's aim is to raise the profile of library and information work and to support the needs of the library and information community. It is CILIP's mission to provide the membership organisation needed by the library and information profession in the twenty-first century.
