- Influence the development of policies relating to the provision of information
and library services at national and local level.
- Promote guidelines for the provision of services and provide advise on
matters relating to the development of library and information services.
- Ensure the effective representation of the interests of members in the
wider library and information community.
- Market and promote the role and value of library and information services
to all sections of the community in Scotland.
For individual members
- Unite all persons engaged or interested in library and information work.
- Promote and develop an effective infrastructure for the professional development
of individual members and ensure provision of services and facilities according
to changing needs and interests.
- Provide and disseminate information to members.
- Provide advice on matters relating to career development.
