PLQIM Awards

SLIC invited calls for service improvement projects in July 2006, 8 developments were agreed. The successful awards are:

East Renfrewshire: Look@libraries. Awarded: GBP 49,960
Falkirk: Accessible audio books, DAISY players and audiobooks were purchased to improve access to spoken word literature for the blind. Awarded: GBP 30,000
Fife: Taste IT was set up to introduce people to computing and the web. Awarded: GBP 86,994
Glasgow: Get Glasgow Reading a project intended to increase usage of Glasgow libraries book stock. Awarded: GBP 50,000
Highland: Highland libraries: responding to community needs. Highland libraries used PLQIM funding to install self service terminals in their libraries. Awarded: GBP 51,090
Scottish Borders: PALM (Providing Access to Language Materials) increased the amount of material available to migrant workers in their native language. Awarded: GBP 15,630
Stirling: Wireless Stirling. Stirling libraries are aiming to give all library sites wireless internet access. Awarded: GBP 88,500
West Lothian: NETT(New Emergent Technological Tools). Awarded: GBP 68,572
