Ask Scotland, the service

SLIC, in collaboration with OCLC, and local authorities in Scotland (see partners page) are delighted to offer a new pilot reference service.

Ask Scotland brings together a network of professional librarian expertise from all over Scotland. The service will enable greater use of public libraries and their unique collections and resources to answer all Scottish history related queries.

The current service is delivered online with customers filling out a web form, librarians can then use the Question Point service to email an answer to each customer. It is hoped within the first year Ask Scotland will also begin testing with real time chat software to answer customer questions.

If you have a burning question regarding Scottish history please go to the Ask Scotland web form and a member of the Ask Scotland team will assist in helping you find the answer.

For further enquiries and feedback, please contact Gillian Hanlon e: g.hanlon@slainte.org.uk
