CILIPS CPD course content was designed to complement the CILIP Body of Professional Knowledge and link to CILIP Framework of Qualifications, the National Occupational Standard (NOS) framework and the NHS Scotland Knowledge and Skills Framework (KSF).

The aim of this course was to develop the understanding of managers and leaders and to encourage awareness of leadership skills and styles.

By the end of this workshop participants had:

• Explored the differences between a leader and a manager
• Discussed why managers wish to become effective leaders
• Identified leadership styles and discussed how that impacts on their own development
• Explored factors that affect choice of leadership style
• Discussed the factors that influence the motivation of teams and individuals
