CILIPS CPD course content was designed to complement the CILIP Body of Professional Knowledge and link to CILIP Framework of Qualifications, the National Occupational Standard (NOS) framework and the NHS Scotland Knowledge and Skills Framework (KSF).

The aim of this course was to introduce delegates to a structured approach to Project Management.

Topic covered in this workshop included:

  • Why projects fail: common pitfalls and problems with project management
  • Methodology Structure: approach, good practice
  • Project Start up: alignment with corporate strategy, defining, stakeholders, building teams, costing
  • Project Planning Tools and techniques: risks and contingencies, people issues, culture
  • Managing the Project: monitoring and review, reporting, re-planning, conflict management
  • Change Management: climate and culture, communication, involvement and consultation, managing resistance
  • Project Closure: post project review, learning and improvement, benefits analysis, handover
