CILIPS > Continuing Professional Development > Improving services to blind, partially sighted and dyslexic children and young people

CILIPS CPD course content was designed to complement the CILIP Body of Professional Knowledge and link to CILIP Framework of Qualifications, the National Occupational Standard (NOS) framework and the NHS Scotland Knowledge and Skills Framework (KSF).

In collaboration with the RNIB, CILIPS organised two workshops which aimed to:

  • Increase awareness of the library needs of visually impaired children and young people
  • Share good practice of library work with visually impaired children and young people
  • Explore ideas of how to improve these services in the future
  • Identify ambitious, but realistic action plans for: service improvement, marketing library services to blind, visually impaired and dyslexic young people and their parents/carers, raising awareness and developing good practice among library staff at all levels
