Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) 1995 An Act to make it unlawful to discriminate against disabled persons in connection with employment, the provision of goods, facilities and services or the disposal or management of premises; to make provision about the employment of disabled persons; and to establish a National Disability Council. Disability Rights Commission Act 1999 An Act to establish a Disability Rights Commission and make provision as to its functions; and for connected purposes. Note: Act as originally enacted on OPSI website. Acts are often amended subsequent to original enactment.

Disability Discrimination Act 2005 An Act to amend the Disability Discrimination Act 1995.

Note: Section 18 widens the definition of 'disability' used in the 1995 Act above. Sections 9 and 16 do not apply to Scotland.

Act generally legislates on multiple area's including transport; discriminatory adverts; private clubs.

Special Educational Needs and Disability Act 2001

Note: The provisions on rights for disabled people in education extend to England, Wales and Scotland (although duty to provide accessibility strategy or plan does not automatically apply to Scotland. However it has been applied by the 2002 Act, see below). The provisions in the Act relating to special educational needs (SEN) extend to England and Wales only. Education (Disability Strategies and Pupils' Educational Records) (Scotland) Act 2002

An Act of the Scottish Parliament to require bodies responsible for schools to prepare and implement strategies relating to the accessibility, for pupils with a disability, of school education; and to make provision in respect of the educational records of school pupils. General Note: Disability - The Equality and Human Rights Commission gives non-statutory guidance which offer advice on compliance with the main area's of the DDA. There are numerous pieces of 'secondary legislation' e.g. Statutory Instruments, Scottish Statutory Instruments which fill in the detail regarding the DDA in various area's. These are also law.

Breastfeeding etc. (Scotland) Act 2005 asp 1

An Act of the Scottish Parliament to make it an offence to prevent or stop a person in charge of a child who is otherwise permitted to be in a public place or licensed premises from feeding milk to that child in that place or on those premises; to make provision in relation to the promotion of breastfeeding; and for connected purposes.

Antisocial Behaviour etc. (Scotland) Act 2004

An Act of the Scottish Parliament to make provision in connection with antisocial behaviour; to make provision about criminal justice; to make provision in relation to child welfare; and for connected purposes.

Adults with Incapacity (Scotland) Act 2000 An Act of the Scottish Parliament to make provision as to the property, financial affairs and personal welfare of adults who are incapable by reason of mental disorder or inability to communicate; and for connected purposes.
