CILIPS > Information Literacy: Securing Change > Introduction

Information Literacy: Securing Change has been designed to help library and information professionals across sectors to develop and promote information literacy courses. There are three main elements:
  • a practical toolkit to assist in planning the development and implementation of courses
  • a resource bank providing valuable advocacy materials and examples of good practice
  • CPD area highlighting areas of professional relevance and links to the CILIP Framework of Qualifications

Information literacy has been a key issue for the library and information sector in recent years, generating much debate and research. The absence of a nationally recognised strategy puts the onus on information professionals to develop their own approach to information literacy.

These resources were produced by the CILIPS Information Literacy Task and Finish Group to assist in this process. They are intended as a step towards gaining wider recognition for information literacy and, ultimately, effecting organisational change.
