Be Safe Online
Advice and information about Internet safety for parents and teachers, as part of the SUSI (Safer Use of Services on the Internet) project (2002), an awareness-raising project supported by the European Union Safer Internet Action Plan.
Internet Safety
This blog records the development of a new qualification relating to the safe use of the Internet. It describes how the Scottish Qualifications Authority develops teaching and learning materials to support learners and assessment material to judge their knowledge and skills.
CBBC Stay Safe
Resource with a range of useful video clips and advice. This site is aimed at younger children and uses cartoons to get the safety message across. It has simple, safe-surfing rules which can be printed out and kept by the computer. Links to Global Taskforce, Think u know and Kidsmart.
Chat Danger
Produced by Childnet International and aimed at children, this site has plenty of information, true stories and warnings about particular media, like mobiles and chat rooms.
Digizen
Launched by Childnet International in September 2007, this site supports and showcases young people’s positive social engagement and participation online. The site includes a useful overview of the full Cyberbullying guidance, the film, and hosts a new competition for young people encouraging them to create their own responses to cyberbullying.
ClickThinking: Personal Safety on the Internet
This is a resource pack for schools and families from the Scottish Government and Learning and Teaching Scotland. The content is aimed at teaching staff and parents. Specialist materials for under 10s, 10-14years, post 14 and families.
Sid's Online Safety Guide
Aimed at 8-12 year olds, this site is highly interactive and links with Scottish and National Curriculum. It was developed in the north-east of Scotland by the primary children's website and Live Wire Productions, a theatre in education company, and is supported by B.P.
Surf Safely
Internet safety blog by Ted Hastings, educational and IT consultant and author of Leckie and Leckie's 'Internet Safety Skills'. The blog aims to provide parents, teachers, librarians, youth workers and anyone else interested with information and advice relating to Internet Safety.
thinkuknow
Child Exploitation and Online Protection centre education initiative (CEOP) contains loads of information on how to stay safe online. Contains information on internet safety and safe surfing for young people. Media covered include blogs and gaming sites.
Websafe Crackerz
MSN's interactive games and puzzles for young people were designed with the help of teenagers and offer strategies for dealing with different situations online.
