CSG Scotland is a regional branch of the Community Services Group of CILIP.
Established in 1982, membership is open to all individuals living in Scotland,
either through membership of CILIP, or by affiliation.
CSG Scotland aims to promote community development through the provision
of high quality library and information services.
- Works to promote equal access for all minority groups to library and information
services.
- Seeks to combat disadvantage by prioritising information services to people
at risk of social exclusion through poverty, deprivation, race, disability,
ill-health, age, gender and sexual orientation.
- Promotes and encourages activities that expand the knowledge of librarians
and information workers in local communities and with minority groups.
- Has an active training programme in diverse topics of direct relevance
to their members' interests.
The CSG Scotland Website is one means of furthering the our aims.
- Provides a forum for discussion and interchange of ideas and experience.
- Encourages and enables the establishment of closer working links among
agencies from all sectors working in the community.
- Publicises the CSG Scotland training programme.
- Highlights local community developments resulting from UK and Scottish
government policies.
- Promotes good practice by publicising local initiatives that help to improve
the flow of information throughout our communities.
