- The Spring 2008 issue of Loc Scot takes as its theme the 500th anniversary
of printing in Scotland. Brian Hillyard of the National Library looks
at the earliest days of Scottish printing and how the NLS is celebrating
this turning point in history, while Alistair Mann of Stirling University
looks at the first "print centuries". The Around the Districts
feature visits West Lothian; there is news of two courses on genealogy,
one of them specifically tailored for library staff; and an update on
the Scotlands People voucher scheme.

Volume 5 Number 2
- This issue includes two papers from the digitisation day school earlier
in the year - access to photographs in East Dunbartonshire, and Chris
Fleet of the NLS Map Library on map digitisation. Janet Klak gives details
of a project to get Adult Basic Education learners involved in family
history; Paulette Hill provides an insight into the library of Historic
Scotland; and there's a progress report on plans to revamp Local History
Week.

2007, Volume 5 Number 1
- This issue visits East Renfrewshire in the 'Around the Districts' feature,
and hears from one of the first students to complete the Local Studies
Collection Management Course at the Robert Gordon University Virtual Campus.
There's a report on the Scotlandspeople pilot project in libraries, a
suggested booklist of 'how to' books on local and family history, and
the interesting story of an escape from a German POW camp in the First
World War from the files of an old East Lothian newspaper.

Volume 4 Number 8
- The overall theme of this issue is communication and consultation, including
a membership survey. Additional features include: researching an immigrant
community, conservation and protection of fragile materials and family
history at Corton Vale Women's Prison. An overview of Local History Week
2006 is also included.

Volume 4 Number 7
- This issue covers the digitisation of resources, touching on concerns
regarding the involvement of commercial organisations, as well as exploring
the practical issues with a feature on a National Archives project to
digitise Church of Scotland records. Also included are articles on the
new local studies CPD module being offered by Robert Gordon University
and an piece on local studies librarianship in Australia.
- Autumn 2005,
Volume 4 Number 6
- This edition includes a profile of outgoing Locscot Secretary, Don Martin
of East Dunbartonshire. Also featured are a DIY guide to Statistical Accounts
and 10 do's and don'ts of local studies on the internet.
