In 2006 SLIC launched a new membership package for the FE sector which includes this area on SLAINTE, a free annual briefing event, and an invitation to a new Innovation and Development showcase event.
Involved in the FE sector since 1992 when she moved from the school library service. She worked in Cardonald and Dundee Colleges before moving to Motherwell College in 2004 to set up a new library. Throughout her career she has been involved in professional groups including the AAL and CoFHE. An FE Representative on SLIC Management Committee since 2001 she was a member of the working party which produced the ‘Resources and Services Supporting Learning: A Service Development Quality Toolkit’ and a contributor to the 7th edition of CoFHE guidelines ‘Guidelines for Colleges: recommendations for learning resources’ published in 2005. Assistant Director SLIC/CILIPS since 2003 and was previously a member of the senior management team at Glasgow College of Building and Printing where she held the post of Director of Library and Learning Services. She chaired the Glasgow Colleges Group Library Forum and previously served on SLIC Management Committee as FE representative. She currently serves on the JISC Content Services Committee, the Board of MIMAS, the JISC RSC-Scotland South and West Steering Group and the LTS ICT Reference Advisory Group. Service Development Manager to the Scottish Confederation of University and Research Libraries (SCURL) with responsibility to support and further the activities of SCURL. Specific responsibility for contributing to the support of the Further Education sector has involved Jill in attending and contributing to the LIBNET meetings at the Scottish Further Education Unit and regular monthly meetings with the SLIC FE Working Group. Jill is a committee member of UC&R. Jill has recently been appointed as a member of the UC&R (University and Research Group) Committee for Scotland and also to the Robert Gordon University Department of Information Management Professional Panel. e: j.evans@nls.uk ; t: +44 131 623 3940.
Tom is Head of Integrated Learner Support Services at Carnegie College in Dunfermline and was previously a school librarian in Glasgow and Clydebank. Tom began his career in the Education Resource Service, Dumbarton division. At Lauder College, he is kept busy looking after two library sites – the main one at Halbeath and a smaller site nearby. Tony moved into Further Education from the school sector in 1991 as Librarian-in-Charge
at Glasgow College of Food Technology (GCFT). He became Chief Librarian
of Glasgow Metropolitan College shortly after its formation through a
merger between GCFT and Glasgow College of Building and Printing in 2005.
He has sat on a number of project, steering and advisory bodies and is
currently Chair of the Glasgow College Librarians Group. Tony acts as
