Information Literacy Skills > Introduction

SLIC is pleased to launch new material to support the development of Information Literacy skills. Following feedback from the 2000 Learners project, the Scottish Qualifications Authority will re-launch and re-name in August 2007, SQA unit DF9J 11, Information Handling Skills Intermediate 2, as Information Literacy Skills Intermediate 2 (SCQF Level 5).

Working from the requirements of the qualification, the material has been developed which will provide the evidence needed to meet the learning outcomes. Material has been prepared for a range of learning bites. A course overview with plans for allocating the learning across the required 40 hours, practice exercises for use with classes, candidate logbooks and step-by-step guides to the information task for staff and candidates have also been prepared.

CILIPS set up an Information Literacy Task and Finish Group to look at how individual CILIPS members can be encouraged to support the information literacy and the links collected during the course of their research may also be of interest.
