This area of SLAINTE aims to provide support to information professionals
working in schools. Resources are spread across 7 key areas:
- A Curriculum for Excellence
- Implementation of A Curriculum for Excellence commenced in
August 2008. Find out more about the new curriculum and how it affects the LRC in this section.
- ICT in the LRC
- The continuing implementation of Glow, the Scottish education intranet will affect all aspects of school life. Find out how this could impact on the LRC and how to keep your skills up-to-date with the Diploma in Applications of ICT in Libraries.
- Information literacy
- This comprehensive toolkit was produced by a CILIPS working group
composed of information professionals directly involved with developing
information literacy. The framework can be used to support the implementation
of new courses or to develop existing learning programmes. The Information
Literacy Skills National Qualification (formerly Information Handling
Skills) is an interactive course which can be implemented in schools
to support the delivery of information literacy programmes to the post-16
age group.
- Improving Libraries for Learners - Self evaluation
framework
- This guide replaces Libraries Supporting Learners (2005) and was published in 2009, together with a new range of supporting documents.
- Preparing for Inspection
- The HMIe proforma for the inspection of LRC's has undergone recent
changes. Find the most up-to-date version in this section, together
with tips for completion.
- Single Status
- Read our guide to the single status process in this section.
- SLRC Quantitive Indicators
- Each year the Scottish Library and Information Council (SLIC) asks
all school librarians to undertake a quantitive measurement of services.
The survey is conducted during a sample week in November and responses
help to build a nationwide perspective of information services in schools.
