In partnership with the Home Economics Department, the librarian supports a BabyCare course in which pupils studying child development get an opportunity for practical child literacy development by telling stories to cluster Primary Schools. This builds links with associated Primary Schools, helps to develop skills relevant to 'Learning for Work' and enhances pupils' sense of pride and identity in school, creating a sense of achievement and confidence. There has been positive feedback from Primary Schools.
In terms of Curriculum for Excellence, the Babycare course contributes to all the 4 capacities, including self respect, wellbeing, and ambition, achieving success in a new area of activity, evaluating respect for others and commitment to participate responsibly in political, economic, social and cultural life.
